It is a known fact that your body needs the right combination of nutrients so that it can energize you and keep you going through each day. However, if you choose to ignore this fact and eat all the wrong types of food that will cause great harm, then you will be the sufferer in the long run. For instance, did you know that having food with excess gluten is the primary cause for celiac disease?
For those of you who are not aware of the term “gluten”, it is basically a combination of the two proteins, prolarmines and glutelins. It is generally found in barley, rye, bread, and wheat. Celiac disease is sometimes known as gluten sensitive enteropathy (GSE). It is a type of disorder that has become fairly common these days. So what is the amount of damage that can be caused by this disease? Take a look:
- It prevents the proper absorption of the necessary nutrients in the body.
- It causes damage to the small intestine.
- It causes autoimmunity. This condition occurs when neighboring cells become immune against each other. Each cell treats its neighboring ones as a foreign object.
Gluten rich food also causes other types of harm such as polycystic ovary syndrome, diabetes, psoriasis, and other types of skin allergies. It is said that it slows down the functioning of the thyroid gland. The leaky gut syndrome is also said to arise due to excess intake of gluten. It causes inflammation in the body and causes allergies, sleepiness, skin problems, and pain.
In order to avoid such a condition, you should go on a gluten free diet by minimizing the intake of wheat, bread, and rye. It is said that vegetables like peas, onions, broccoli, parsley, eggplant, spinach, green beans, and lettuce don’t contain any gluten. The same can be said for raspberries, strawberries, cherries, apricot, figs, dates, oranges, and mangoes. Meat and poultry can also be classified as gluten free products. In case you are fond of dairy products, then try to avoid bleu cheese as it contains gluten.
