Jennifer Hudson Weight Loss Success Story

Jennifer Kate Hudson’s dream was to become a singing star but she knew she would probably never make it to the big time because of her weight. She had always had a weight problem and being a size 22, she realized that she would have to lose about 50 pounds in weight just to stand a chance in the singing business and achieve her big dream.
She was so determined to lose her excess weight that she regularly took up jogging and used to run up and down stairs for about 30 minutes a day. That wasn’t the end of her exercise regime. She also included work outs in the gym and used work out tapes at home to burn off the calories. She loved fried foods and especially ice cream but she completely excluded them from her diet in her desire to shed the pounds quickly. As a result of her determination, she appeared on American Idol in 2004 as a size 10, having lost 60 pounds in weight. The audience was thrilled to hear what she had put herself through to realise her dream of becoming a star. Many were inspired to achieve a similar weight loss for themselves. Although she didn’t win Australian Idol, as that honour went to Fantasia Barrino, Jennifer did go on to win the 2006 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Dreamgirls”.
Jennifer Hudson left American Idol and applied for a role in the movie version of the Broadway musical “Dreamgirls”. She won the role despite 800 other girls also applying for the same role. The role as a heavy girl called Effie White demanded she gain 20 pounds and 6 dress sizes. At the Oscars, Jennifer Hudson had trimmed down to a size 12. She did say that size 12 was comfortable and she wouldn’t want to drop below a size 8.
Jennifer also starred in two big movies during 2008. The first was “Sex in The City, the Movie” and the other “The Secret Life of Bees”. Jennifer also became a new mother in 2008. Although she gained the usual 35 pounds expected in pregnancy, she soon lost the additional weight with a diet devoid of red eat and fried foods and walked on average 45 minutes per day. Tragically, that was the same year that her family of her mother, brother and nephew were shot and died in an incident. Two years later in 2010, she hired Harley Pasternak as her trainer to be able to shed a few pounds she needed for a role in another movie. After announcing that she had applied to Weight Watchers, it was no surprise that she became the new spokesperson for them, three months later. Soon after, a new size 6 Jennifer Hudson starred in the latest Weight Watchers advertisement.
This amazing weight loss story is an inspiration to all those suffering from overweight problems. It shows that with a lot effort and determination, you too can make your dreams come true.
