Miley Cyrus has been turning heads lately with her trimmed down body in 2012 and recent engagement to Liam Hemsworth. She’s also created some buzz with her rapid weight loss stirring some debate among followers as to whether or not she has an eating disorder or just following a plain old common sense approach to healthy eating.

Luckily for us, she has gone on Twitter and talked openly about her diet and shared her secrets for her lean body.

Miley Cyrus’ Diet Strategy 1

Go Gluten Free

Miley has gone of record stating she follows a gluten free diet.

Gluten is a type of protein found in grains like wheat, rye, and barley. Those with Celiacs and whom have a sensitivity to it may experience digestive issues, and Miley has stated that she cannot tolerate gluten.

It’s possible that some people may be sensitive to gluten and not be aware of it until they remove it from their diet. While it’s debated whether or not going gluten free eating will really help anyone with weight loss, at the very least there are plenty of great alternatives to wheat and gluten containing foods in the diet. This means one can easily go gluten-free without missing out on some great tasting meals.

My favorite gluten free starchy foods are quinoa, buckwheat, organic brown rice, and beans. There are also plenty of great books and resources out there for eating gluten free.

Leave out the Lactose

Miley has also stated she follows a lactose free diet.

Lactose is a type of sugar found in milk products. Lactose can also cause digestive issues in some individuals and leaving it out of the diet may be prudent for those whom can’t tolerate it.

From my observation, excess milk isn’t very lean body friendly. It tends to promote weight gain. It is after all designed to turn calves into cows! So cutting out some milk in favor of some alternatives may be a good idea for anyone looking to shed a few extra pounds.

 

Luckily, there are plenty of healthy alternatives like almond milk, and even coconut milk products available at most grocery stores. And if you really love your milk and dairy but are sensitive to lactose or want to reduce it, try Kefir.

Kefir and some yoghurts are much lower in lactose due to the healthy bacteria in these products that consume the lactose.

Final Tips

1. Remember that while going gluten-free and lactose-free may be beneficial, it isn’t absolutely necessary to get a fit body like Miley. Simply following a sound healthy eating plan that is nutrient rich and avoids excess calories is all that is needed for the vast majority of women to get into stunning shape.

2. Seek out the guidance of an expert. First of all, always see a doctor or qualified specialist before making any major changes to your diet and exercise program. If you’re worried you may have a gluten or lactose intolerance, see about getting tests done.

3. Diet and exercise are both important, and you’ll notice most Hollywood celebs focus on each. So be sure to get in at least a little bit of exercise too!
